Azteca America premieres Secretos del Alma

Next Monday, October 20 at 10:00 am / 9:00 am C, Azteca America will premiere the new telenovela Secretos del Alma, a story of love and betrayal starring two great Mexican actors: Ivonne Montero and Humberto Zurita with renowned Venezuelan actress Gabriela Vergara in the role of the series’ villain.

Diana Cervantes (Ivonne Montero) is a young woman living with her mother and niece.  She has become the sole breadwinner in her family after her sister is sent to prison, accused of murdering her former husband.  The Cervantes family is without a father figure since the father abandoned the family as a result of his wife’s cold, repressed, and forceful personality.

At work, Diana is the right-hand woman of Andrés Lascuráin (Humberto Zurita), a successful entrepreneur and workaholic.  Andrés is a widower and a father of four, but he has not been able to develop a relationship with his children that is loving, caring and close.  After the death of his wife, he finds it difficult to show his feelings.

Being so involved in Andrés’ personal and professional life, Diana begins to fall in love with him and starts to think of him as her one true love.  But she doesn’t feel worthy of him and resigns herself to forever loving him secretly.

Seeing Andrés so unhappy and losing himself in his work, she suggests that he rebuild his life.  For a moment, she dreams that Andrés will finally realize that she is in love with him, but fate deals her a blow when he follows her advice and begins a new life with another woman.  Denisse (Gabriela Vergara) will go on to disappoint him terribly and send him into a deep depression.

It is only much later, and after facing much adversity, that Andrés realizes that Diana has never abandoned him despite everything.  He comes to believe that she can make him feel good at last, so he proposes matrimony without really being in love with her.

But just as the couple begins to believe that they can start to live a life filled with of love and joy, a series of lies, betrayals, and greed create obstacles preventing them from finally revealing the secrets in their souls.

With a cast that includes television icons such as Saby Kamalich, Aura Cristina Geithner, Rodrigo Abed, Juan Manuel Bernal, and Sergio Basáñez, to mention just a few, and a theme song performed by Yuridia, Secretos del Alma can be enjoyed starting Monday, October 20 at 10:00 am / 9:00 am C on Azteca America.
