December 14, 2008
Azteca Networks and DIRECTV Inc. premiered the novela “Eternamente Tuya” in the United States and México at the same time – something that has never been done before.
“Eternamente Tuya,” on DIRECTV Más channel 442 Azteca Mexico, allowed audiences in the United States to view this new novela every week night at the same time as their Mexican friends and family, as opposed to waiting months or even years after a novela premieres in Mexico.
“No other content provider has the passion for serving the Mexican community like DIRECTV Más,” said John de Armas, vice president, WORLDDIRECT, Inc. “This simultaneous broadcast clearly shows how in touch the DIRECTV Más platform is with the Mexican audience. Imagine what a thrill it will be for the comadres in Mexico and the U.S. to share their daily dose of novela. This is truly groundbreaking and innovative television.”
“Eternamente Tuya” will feature up and coming young actors and actresses, including, female lead, Fernanda Romero, who is touted as the next Salma Hayek of Hollywood. Romero has been featured in various advertising campaigns in the United States as well as participating in a wide array of Hollywood movies, including “The Burning Plain” and “The Red Canvas.”
The male lead, Khotan, also began working as a model in advertising campaigns and starred in various novelas including, “Mi Pequeña Traviesa” and “Deseo Prohibido.” Behind the camera, Colombian producer Oscar Guarin of telenovela fame will step into the Mexican telenovela arena. As an accomplished director, Guarin has directed hits such as “Yo Soy Betty la Fea, Infantil” as well as acting as assistant director on the famous international film “Como Agua Para Chocolate.”
