Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia has promoted Ivan Bargueiras to vice president of advertising sales. The announcement was made by Enrique R. Martinez, Senior Vice President and General Manager.
As VP, Advertising Sales for DNLAI, Bargueiras is responsible for overseeing all advertising sales activities in the U.S., Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula for Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Discovery Health, Discovery Travel & Adventure, People + Arts, Animal Planet, discoveryespanol.com and discoveryportugues.com.
“This past year and a half, Ivan has demonstrated his strategic skills and leadership abilities as Group Director of the department,” said Martinez. “Under his direction, his team achieved an unprecedented increase in the networks’ combined revenues and the addition of several key clients to Discovery’s client roster, making him an invaluable asset to the success of our company.”
Bargueiras joined Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia in 1997 as Account Manager and was quickly promoted to Regional Director. He previously served as advertising manager for the Weather Channel, where he structured the sales department and developed promotional strategies for the network’s United States operations. His background in the advertising industry also includes positions at The Travel Channel and The Box.
