March 25, 2014
Hartford, CT based Bauza & Associates earned the top spot out of 52 entries in the single medium campaign category of The American Advertising Awards and then walked away with Best of Show by evening’s end. The agency was recognized by The Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts (ACWM) at a March 20 gala held in Springfield, Mass. at the Community Music School of Springfield. The awards are the first step toward winning on a national level.
“Being named a winner of The American Advertising Awards by the ACWM is a great honor,” said Hector Bauza, CEO of Bauza& Associates. “Bauza& Associates has the capability to develop campaigns that resonate with the intended target markets in a culturally relevant manner,” he added.
Hailed by the ACWM judges for, “having a concept so concise, that even non-Spanish-speaking viewers could easily understand its message,” Bauza& Associates’ 12-month running, public service television campaign entitled, “Tabaco, QueDesperdicio” (Tobacco, What a Waste)was the favorite of the entries submitted by agencies, companies, and individuals in western Massachusetts and the New England region.
The two, 30-second, Spanish-language spots were created for an anti-tobacco-prevention public service campaign for the Connecticut department of Public Health aimed at young Hispanics. One spot depicts lung damage by showing a young woman unable to blow out candles on her birthday cake while a second spot equates cigarette smoking to inhaling smoke from a car muffler.
