Alejandro Benes has been named Executive Producer of Investigative and Enterprise Reporting for WNBC, it was announced by Vice President News Director Dianne Doctor. In this capacity, Benes will directly supervise the Investigative Unit and work with other station reporters to cultivate and produce exclusive enterprise reports.
Benes comes to NBC4 following a year’s stint as News Director at WXTV, Channel 41 (Univision) and two years developing an international communications business. Benes was also co-founder and Managing Director of the Center For Public Integrity, an investigative journalism watchdog group in Washington DC.
A consummate media professional, Benes spent 5 years at NBC network, as News Manager, Director of News, and Producer during the 1990’s. Benes worked for ABC News for eight years, beginning in Washington, and later moving to El Salvador as the network’s Bureau Chief for Latin America.
