July 3, 2009
Border Media Partners announced the launch of San Antonio’s newest radio station, El Compa “Puras Buenas,” 104.1 FM!
KRIO El Compa “Puras Buenas” will target Men 18-49, while KSAH “Norteño” targets Adults 25-54, and KLEY “La Ley” targets Women 18-49, providing advertisers with the opportunity to reach all segments of San Antonio’s vibrant Mexican Regional Hispanic market! Research indicates that listeners have an avid appetite for the El Compa format, and Border Media is proud to be able to give this musical offering to San Antonio’s predominantly Hispanic community. This opportunity offers the full musical spectrum of the Regional Mexican lifestyle, which is one of the hottest trends in Spanish music today.
Border Media flipped its “Digital” Spanish pop format to El Compa after extensive research, which indicated Mexican Regional formats being the most preferred by San Antonio’s Hispanic community. The new station has been designed by taking the best of a strongly performing AM, KSAH “Norteño,” and melding it with a new, fresh format on the FM dial at 104.1!
Jose Santos, Vice President of Spanish Programming for Border Media commented, “The Regional Mexican format is exploding because of the amount of variety within the format, and therefore you can actually create a spectrum of formats based on the demographics you’re trying to reach, from traditional, to the young and hip, to the family-oriented people. What we are essentially offering with all of our radio stations is the ability to reach the entire Regional Mexican lifestyle spectrum. The vast variety of music from Regional Mexican music is instrumental in the creation of this station. The music is embraced by San Antonio Hispanics.”
Lance Hawkins, Vice President/Market Manager for Border Media San Antonio, said, “Border Media is deeply committed to serving our audiences and advertisers, and with the addition of El Compa we will continue to fulfill that mission. El Compa is a music intensive format, which will be locally programmed in San Antonio. We believe this format will be a successful brand based on what our listeners have told us. We are pleased to be able to offer this new station to San Antonio Hispanic radio listeners.”
Alfonso Flores, Program Director of KSAH and KLEY, will also serve as Program Director for El Compa, and Juan Mendez, GSM for KSAH and KLEY, will also serve as General Sales Manager of El Compa. Border Media is proud to super-serve the Hispanic community with the offerings of all of its fine Spanish music stations.
