Bromley Communications turns 25.

Known for earning the gold at industry award ceremonies, Bromley Communications is turning silver in 2006 — marking 25 years the agency has been in the marketing communications industry. Since 1981, Bromley Communications, along with some of the agency’s early partners, helped pave the way for Hispanic marketing as we know it today.

Founded in 1981 in downtown San Antonio, by Lionel Sosa and Ernest Bromley, Sosa & Associates was dedicated to provide best-of-class Hispanic marketing, despite just a handful of employees. After a series of growth spurts, name changes and acquisitions, the company became one of the leading multicultural marketing firms in the country. In the year 2000, the agency was renamed Bromley Communications, with Bromley as Chief Executive Officer. In 2004, Bromley Communications merged with its sister company, Publicis Sanchez & Levitan, to solidify its stature as the nation’s largest Hispanic marketing firm.

Today, the full-service agency employs more than 160 people in San Antonio, Miami, New York and Los Angeles. Long known for being at the forefront of the Hispanic marketing industry, Bromley Communications attracts blue-chip clients seeking a strong creative, yet strategic, results-oriented marketing partner.

“The Hispanic market has evolved considerably in the last 25 years. Today, we challenge our employees continuously to venture into new and unexplored territories that ultimately result in a greater return on investment and client satisfaction,” stated Bromley. “We’re living in a different marketplace, where the minority is oftentimes the majority. Almost half of the top 100 cities in the U.S. no longer have Anglo majorities.”

Bromley Communications has always used ground-breaking techniques to attract diverse Hispanic audiences. It was one of the first agencies to run a Spanish-language advertisement on an English-language television network, incorporate non-traditional media and was among the first to create culturally relevant Spanglish ads that capture the unique ‘voice” of Hispanic markets.

Innovative campaigns such as these have marked the agency as an industry pioneer that outpaces numerous others in terms of awards and recognition. In 2005, Bromley Communications was selected the Ad Age Agency Report Card’s #1 Multicultural Agency, and took top honors as AAAA’s O’Toole Multicultural Agency Award Winner and the ANA Multicultural Excellence Award Winner – Hispanic Category.

“Despite numerous societal and market changes the agency’s philosophy remains: the Hispanic market is key to the country’s future growth. This belief fuels the passion to create great ideas and courage to forge ahead,” stated original founder and Hispanic marketing guru, Lionel Sosa. “Preservation of this philosophy, combined with a constant commitment to excellence and innovation, will lead the agency through the next 25 years.”
