Bromley/MS&L Got Silver Spurs.

Bromley/MS&L stood out above the State’s best and brightest public relations teams Saturday night and won a total of five Silver Spur awards given by the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA) for its client work with the People’s Nine campaign, Terra.com and Burger King Corporation. The award-winning PR team is no stranger to top honors. In fact, Bromley/MS&L has won 10 Silver Spur Awards since 2001.

Bromley/MS&L went beyond its boundaries of largely being recognized for its expertise in multi-cultural relations by winning Silver Spurs in both Public Affairs/Governmental Relations and Community Relations for its pro-bono work on behalf of the City of San Antonio and Bexar County in the People’s Nine: Strengthen Your Community campaign.

With only eight weeks until Election Day, the City and County asked Bromley/MS&L to create and spearhead an aggressive grass-roots campaign to educate area voters and ensure passage of nine bond propositions. In the end, more than 100 presentations were conducted to organizations and non-profit groups and non-paid media coverage yielded more than 15 million impressions. Once the final votes were in, all nine bond proposals passed and there was an increase of 72 percent in voter turnout from the 2001 election. “From the beginning and with very short notice, Bromley jumped in with both feet to help get this campaign off the ground,” Frank Burney, treasurer of the People’s Nine Political Action Committee said. “The inspiring campaign proved to be victorious for the citizens of San Antonio and Bexar County.”

Winning in both the Media Relations and Multi-cultural categories, the campaign entitled “Terra.com Seeking Ink Off The Net” chronicled the challenges the team faced to manage media relations for a Spanish-language Internet portal for the entire country. Bromley’s PR team led an aggressive media relations campaign that generated over $500,000 in non-paid media coverage in less than 10 months. In order to retain the loyalty of the Hispanic user, the Internet portal teamed up with Fox Sports en Español and Telemundo to be the official site for fans of sporting events and reality TV shows. This move proved to be successful.
