Caracol Television announced the launch of GENTV (WGEN) Channel 8. The new station is set to hit the airwaves in Miami on September 18th with a fresh and exciting programming schedule that recognizes the multi-ethnicities of the market.
With diverse programming and locally produced shows that relate to all Latin American countries, and age groups, represented in the South Florida market, GENTV-8 embodies “the Latina essence” of Miami’s Spanish-speaking television audience.
“We are committed to bringing a heightened level of quality programming to Hispanic viewers in South Florida, while simultaneously providing a variety of programming options that until now have been inaccessible,” said Camilo Cano, President and CEO, GENTV. He added, “GENTV-8 intends to redefine the local television landscape with compelling programs that appeal and relate to the diverse Spanish-speaking audience in Monroe, Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Among other unique programs, we bring our successful adventure reality show, Desafio 20.06 produced in high definition, a quality of production that places us among the top U.S. networks.”
“Our locally produced programs, like Desafio 20.06, allow marketers to position their brands within our shows,” said Lourdes Diaz, Executive Vice-President Sales and Marketing, GENTV. She added, “The adventure reality that exposes a territorial battle through spectacular and original games, offers advertisers a unique way to reach Hispanic consumers by incorporating their products into localized, Spanish-language lifestyle programming.”
“Our emphasis is on shows that have real relevance to Hispanics in Miami, with stories that reflect our audience’s diversity,” said Lissete Fernandez, Director Production and Development, GENTV. She added, “GENTV’s programming for fall includes, not only proven shows from Caracol Television, but original shows produced locally in Miami.
