Carmen Sepúlveda

Carmen Sepúlveda was born a changemaker in the PR and Communications field and is a natural and gifted communicator. For her, driving change is not just a role, it’s a purpose she has delivered on throughout her entire 30+ year career. This is particularly true as it pertains to reaching and including diverse and multicultural communities through PR. She has dedicated her career to advocating for multicultural communities and building bridges between the brands she represents and communities they serve. Additionally, she has championed and helped advance the work of ethnic media to promote a diverse media landscape, not only by ensuring they are included in pitches so they can break the stories for the communities they serve but also by encouraging her clients/employers to support trade organizations, such as the National Association of Hispanic Journalist and National Association of Black Journalists, that nurture and promote ethnic journalists and producers.

An award-winning expert in the field of marketing communications, Carmen began her PR career at Hispanic Expertí in the late ‘80s with an 8-year stint before moving to The Bravo Group, where she worked with clients like AT&T, Sears Roebuck & Co., Kraft Foods, H&R Block, US Army, US Postal Service, and Census 2000. Carmen then transitioned to the client side, working with JP Morgan Chase and MetLife, successfully spearheading their branding communications efforts that exceeded business goals by double digits. Most recently, Carmen served as Partner and Chief Communications Officer here at DEX, working on several key clients. Currently, Carmen is Director of Communications and Marketing at AARP, where she is a member of the New York State Office leadership team overseeing all state communications efforts and strategies and spearheads implementation and ground game for national communications at the state level,

A dedicated and active player in the PR industry, Carmen has served as a judge for Advertising Age industry awards and has been guest lecturer for the Public Relations Society of America. She has received numerous industry and community awards from organizations such as the New York Women’s Agenda, the National Association of Hispanic Publications, the New York State Department of Labor and the NYS Somos El Futuro Legislative Conference, among others.
