Centroamérica TV to air two key qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup in Russia

Centroamérica TV, the official channel of the Central American community in the U.S, will air two key qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup in Russia: Panama vs. Costa Rica and El Salvador vs. Canada. The games will air on a delay on Wednesday, November 18, at 6pm and 8pm ET, respectively.

In these highly anticipated matches, El Salvador and Panama will try to fight their way to glory while representing the Central American community as a whole. El Salvador has not beaten Canada since 1997, when they crushed the Canadian National Team 4-1 with two of the four goals coming from Mauricio Cienfuegos and Raúl Díaz Arce, El Salvador’s second all-time leading goal-scorer. This year the Salvadorians look to relive that victory against a tough Canadian team, led by veteran Tosaint Ricketts.

The Panamanian National Team will have an equally tough challenge against “Los Ticos,” Costa Rica’s national team. Costa Rica will be looking for vengeance after losing to Panama earlier in the year, ending their seven-match winning streak. The Central American powerhouse will also be looking to pave their way to a fourth straight World Cup appearance. Costa Rica made their first trip to the 1990 World Cup in Italy, where they made it all the way to the Round of 16, only to be defeated by Czechoslovakia.

“The World Cup is unique in that it doesn’t just captivate just one nation, but the entire world. Presenting these qualifying matches to our viewers shows our continued commitment to provide the best sports and entertainment programming to the Central American community living in the U.S.,” said Francisco Gimenez, General Manager of Cable Networks of Hemisphere Media Group, Centroamérica TV’s parent company.
