Champ Car 2003 World Series @ Fox Sports en Español.

Champ Car racing has made vast inroads into the sports consciousness among the North American Hispanic population in recent years, with interest in the series at an all-time high – a fact that was evident as the 2002 season finale in Mexico City broke an all-time Champ Car attendance record when 351,972 fans came through the gates at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

This season, the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series, Powered by Ford will reach even deeper into the Hispanic population of the United States as cable network Fox Sports en Español will carry the entire season of Champ Car races live starting February 23 at 1PM ET.

Firmly entrenched in many of the nation’s major television markets including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Denver, Chicago and San Francisco, Fox Sports en Español reaches over five million households, with over 40 percent of those being Hispanic.

“We value our Hispanic partners and fans very highly as is evident through our work with the Latino Marketing Initiative,” said CART President and CEO Christopher R. Pook. “The passion that the Hispanic fans have for our series is shown not only at our Mexican races, but also at our U.S. stops where the local fans come out in great numbers. We are pleased to be able to help them follow the Champ Car World Series with the signing of this deal.”

Hispanic fans will have their largest-ever driver representation in the Champ Car World Series this season with veteran Adrian Fernandez leading a quartet that includes Michel Jourdain Jr., Mario Dominguez and Rodolfo Lavin.

“The surging interest of expanding the visibility of sports such as the Champ Car World Series to U.S. Hispanics is a clear indication that targeted broadcast platforms are needed to reach this significant U.S. consumer,” said David Sternberg, General Manager of Fox Sports en Español. “We have the right vehicle to help them do just that.”
