Chevy Takes Aim @ Ford.
July 1, 2005
Chevrolet has a good shot at unseating Ford as the No. 1-selling brand in the U.S. this year. After a big sales month in June, Chevy is more than 60,000 units ahead of Ford. Four years ago, Chevy trailed Ford by about 800,000 units.
“The race is on,” said Paul Ballew, executive director – Global Market and Industry Analysis, on “GM DriveTime” today.
“Chevy’s been closing the 800,000-unit gap for quite some time. With the success of June and the new products and the momentum we have with products like the Colorado, the Cobalt and the Equinox, Chevy had been making some inroads.” Ford has been the No. 1-selling brand in the U.S. since 1987.
