Chicago Tribune TV Charts The Rise Of Hispanic Politicians In Chicago.

Due to a population explosion and a series of redistricting battles, the number of elected Hispanic public officials has grown dramatically since 1980, both in Chicago and Illinois.

The Chicago Tribune recounts these gains in “La Politica de Chicago: The Hispanic Politician in Chicago,” a half-hour television presentation produced by the newspaper’s electronic news division. The show, hosted by broadcast journalist Judie Garcia, will air on CLTV, Chicago’s only 24-hour local cable news channel. The program also will examine the challenges confronting Hispanic politicians, including the difficulties of building a power base and issues such a lack of affordable housing and the plight of undocumented immigrants.
