Chiocco – GSM @ Univision WXTV-TV.

Veteran television advertising sales executive Chuck Chiocco has been promoted to General Sales Manager of Univision Communications’ three New York area Spanish-language TV stations, WXTV Channel 41 and Telefutura affiliates WFUT Channel 68 and WFTY Channel 67, it was announced today by Michelle Liebowitz, Univision’s New York area Vice President, Director of Sales.

The move is part of a reorganization of Univision’s New York area TV station sales force under Liebowitz as it integrates sales management of the two Spanish-language Telefutura stations, which bowed in January 2002, with that of the highly successful Univision New York outlet, WXTV Channel 41, the area’s premiere Spanish language TV station. In his new role, Chiocco, 40, who had been Local Sales and Marketing Manager of flagship Univision 41 WXTV, will be responsible for the local and national sales of all three Univision and Telefutura stations here. He will continue to report to Liebowitz, who has overall responsibility for sales, marketing, sales promotion, and business development for the three TV stations.

Univision 41 made history in the past year by surpassing Fox-owned WWOR Channel 9, an English-language, commercial VHF-TV station in sign-on to sign-off ratings. In the February 2002 sweep, Univision 41’s 6 pm weekday newscast emerged as New York’s top rated 6 pm weekday news program among the three key demographic audience groups most prized by advertisers, adults aged 18 – 34 years old, 18 – 49 years old, and 25 – 54 years old. The February 2002 sweep is the first ratings survey period in history in which a Spanish-language news program won New York’s 6 pm weekday demographic ratings race.
