Circo Fantástico Begins Tour.

Circo Fantástico, the first U.S. produced circus experience for Latinos, debuts its worldwide tour at the L.A. County Fairplex in Pomona by offering, for the first time ever, the thrill and spontaneity of a live circus and the fiesta environment of a Latin American celebration. The two-hour show features live Latin music, dancers in beautiful costumes, breathtaking acrobatic artistry, comedy routines, jugglers, clowns and thrill acts, presented by an all-star cast featuring world renown Latino performers.

The $5 million dollar production travels in a new 2,500-seat, climate-controlled tent with state-of the art lights, sound and staging. Upon entering the foyer tent, guests will come upon the “Festival de Sabor,” ¡Circo Fantástico’s! own Latin food festival. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy musical entertainment while enjoying tastes from different Latin cuisines as well as the standard favorite’s that are eagerly anticipated at all family events. The amazing artists performing with ¡Circo Fantástico! represent a diverse combination of talent including:

· The Españas — a world-renown fifth generation circus family — are famous for their riveting acrobatic and thrill acts that showcase traditional circus skills, contemporary extreme sports, dramatic state-of-the-art apparatus and daring stunts.

· Las “Bambolas” are ¡Circo Fantástico’s! own pop superstars. Hailing from Puerto Rico and Venezuela, Heidy, Maria Eugenia, and Dolly are three exceptionally talented and gorgeous young Latina women who sing, dance and win the hearts of audiences across the Americas. Their first CD will be released later this year.

· The Dancing Gauchos, an Argentinean trio that combines dancing with acrobatic artistry, blends the mesmerizing sound of drums with the breathtaking handling of “boleadoras”–an Argentinean hunting weapon– and the crackling fury of whips.

· The ¡Circo Fantástico! dancers are 10 young professionals that perform traditional Tango and Salsa to Mexican folkloric to today’s hottest moves. The production numbers get every audience member boogie-ing in their seats.

· The ¡Circo Fantastico! Band features band leader Carlitos Puerto, one of the most notable acoustic bass players to emerge in the last decade. Carlitos and his four band members play a wide range of Latin music throughout the show.

Emmy Award nominee for Outstanding Choreography for her work on Cher’s World Tour 1999-2000, Doriana Sanchez, ¡Circo Fantástico’s! director and choreographer, developed the show’s creative vision. Well known for creating dramatic images and the ability to blend street dance styles with classical dance movement, Doriana Sanchez is one of the most sought after directors/choreographers.

Working on ¡Circo Fantastico!, together with an incredible technical support team, Sanchez creates a magical experience, designing the look and feel of the show, from dazzling lights and seductive sounds to incredible costumes. “I am honored to have the opportunity to direct a show that truly represents the tradition, diversity and passion of Latin American culture,” said Sanchez.

In creating ¡Circo Fantastico! Sanchez tapped expert designers in each field who have worked with the best names in the entertainment business. Jeremy Railton, production designer, worked with Ricky Martin, David Cardona, costume designer, with Janet Jackson, and Jeff Johnson, lighting designer, with Madonna, and Joey Arreguín, musical director, writes for “Resurrection Blvd.”. Working together each of these designers has created unbelievable sets, costumes, lighting and music and has elevated Circo Fantastico! to a new place in show business.

¡Circo Fantástico! will travel to the heart of Latino communities across the United States. The tour launches in Pomona, CA at the L.A. County Fairplex continuing to Huntington Park, then on to Whittier Narrows Recreation Park. The show will continue to tour through Orange County, San Diego, San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco during a 30-week period. The schedule also includes performances in Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Florida,
Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Puerto Rico.
