Claudio “El Emperador” Suarez joins FOX Deportes

Claudio “El Emperador” Suarez, one of Mexico’s most prominent soccer stars and the record holder for most appearances with the Mexican national team, is the latest addition to FOX Deportes’ impressive roster of soccer analysts. The announcement was made by Carlos Sanchez, Executive Vice President and General Manager, FOX Deportes.
“Suarez is one of the most recognized names in the soccer world,” said Sanchez. “Adding someone of his caliber and experience to our soccer coverage is extremely valuable for FOX Deportes.”
In his role, Suarez serves as a soccer analyst for all UEFA Champions League programming beginning with the Paris Saint-German/Barcelona match today. He joins his former Chivas U.S.A. teammate Mariano Trujillo and longtime play-by-play commentator John Laguna on the call.
Suarez began his career with UNAM Pumas in 1988 and earned a championship title in 1991. He went on to play for Chivas in 1996, UANL Tigres in 2000 and Major League Soccer club Chivas U.S.A. in Los Angeles in 2006. During his career, he served as team captain for the Mexican national team numerous years and represented his country 178 times, making him the player with the most appearances in history for the Mexican National team. Suarez was a starter for the Mexican national team in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.
