Claxson Launches 24-Hour US Hispanic Channel.

Claxson Interactive Group Inc. announced the launch of HTV (www.htv.com), a 24-hour Latin music channel, in New York through “DTV en Español”, Time Warner Cable’s new digital package tailored to Hispanics living in New York City (NYC). The leading Latin music channel will be available to 1.4 million customers in the second largest Hispanic market in the United States. This corporate agreement will make HTV available to all Time Warner Cable systems in major Hispanic markets.

“We’re thrilled to announce HTV’s arrival to NYC. Thanks to Time Warner Cable’s DTV en Español, Hispanics living in Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Mt. Vernon, will be able to enjoy the highest quality music programming in Spanish,” said Sebastian Arias-Duval, VP of Business Development – US. “HTV has already developed a strong following among Hispanics throughout the U.S. and will surely conquer the eyes and ears of Hispanics in NYC interested in enjoying a wide range of Latin music genres. With this agreement, we will start conversations with all other TWC systems interested in reaching this segment of the market.”

The launch in Time Warner Cable of New York expands HTV’s distribution beyond the more than 750,000 Hispanic homes it currently reaches in the U.S. via Echostar and several cable systems in California, Florida and New Jersey. Currently, HTV reaches over 6 million households in Latin America.

HTV programming covers the widest-possible spectrum of Latin American music genres, including pop, Latin rock, tropical, hip-hop, reggae, and ballads. Also featured are today’s most popular crossover hits, introduced by the artists themselves. HTV is unlike the many other music television channels aired across the United States and Latin America today. It is the only channel that successfully integrates all Ibero-American musical culture in one venue.
