CNN Anderson Copper 360º Explores ‘Novelas’ For Content.
March 5, 2004
CNN in its daily program Anderson Cooper 360º on Friday April 2, 2004, exploded the interest that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has placed on the content in the daytime soap operas. The current climate at the FCC is that of no-tolerance for racy or indecent programming.
The Janet Jackson incident at the Super Bowl has created a fury of accusation and inquiries on the lack of proper controls at the radio and television broadcast company on the content of their programs and its impact on society. Thus, resulting in many broadcasters sanitizing their content.
CNN points out that Spanish language Novelas are steamy, sexy, potentially violent and the place to go for racy content on TV.
The FCC has also invested in hiring Spanish language analyst to monitor the blue nature of specific radio DJs at certain Spanish language networks and the monitoring of indecent content in Spanish language television.
Could this make the Spanish language broadcasters re-consider their programming options, as many English language broadcasters have been forced to change their programming deliverables?
Does Hispanic community have a higher tolerance level?
Stay tuned.
