Continental Airlines announce Destino: Latinoamerica contest.

Continental Airlines and the Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund announced their 2010 essay/video contest, “Destino: Latinoamerica” (“Destination: Latin America”) for Hispanic college students.

Participants write a short essay or produce a 3-minute video on Latin America’s impact on U.S. culture. First- and second-place winners will receive Continental Airlines tickets and be recognized at Adelante’s Leadership Institute for Hispanic college students in San Antonio in October.

“More than half of Continental’s international destinations are in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said John Slater, vice president, Latin America, Continental. “We hope ‘Destino: Latinoamerica’ increases Hispanic students’ awareness of the importance of Latin America to the U.S., while helping prepare them for careers in a global marketplace.”

“Adelante helps put Hispanic students on the road to college graduation and arms them with the tools they need to become leaders after they graduate,” said Andria Castillo, executive director, Adelante, which strives to increase Hispanic college graduation rates. “Continental Airlines’ ‘Destino: Latinoamerica’ contest gives students an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and knowledge of their cultural roots.”
