Coors Light Awarded Sponsorship Of Cinco De Mayo Festival In Denver.

Coors Light has been awarded a five year sponsorship of Denver’s Cinco de Mayo celebration in Civic Center Park, hosted by Denver-based NEWSED, non-profit organizers of the festival.

“Committing to a five-year sponsorship of Denver’s annual Cinco de Mayo festival, now in its 16th year, is an ideal partnership for Coors,” said Paul Mendieta, Coors Corporate Relations. “We are proud to support the Hispanic community with events of such cultural significance. Five years ago, Coors Brewing Company created ‘Fiestas Patrias’ in celebration of Mexican Independence. We’re excited to take the next step this year as a sponsor of one of the largest and oldest Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the country.”

Coors’ sponsorship will be complemented with a media and retail campaign in April, promoting Cinco de Mayo in liquor stores, restaurants and bars throughout Denver with various events, posters, fliers, television and radio spots. Coors will also provide entertainment and events on the main stage during Denver’s festival in May.

Cinco de Mayo, which originated as a commemoration of the Mexican army’s victory over the invading French army in the battle of Puebla, has evolved into a celebration of Latino culture in many U.S. cities. The Cinco de Mayo celebration held in Denver is one of the largest in the nation, drawing 400,000 in attendance and bridging a cultural gap by attracting a diverse crowd.

The Denver Cinco de Mayo Festival will be held in Civic Center Park.
