Coors Sponsors 2004-2005 National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week Awards.

Coors Brewing Company announced its sponsorship of the National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW) Awards presented by the Inter-Association Task Force on Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Issues (IATF). The award is bestowed upon three U.S. colleges and universities in recognition for the development of NCAAW and year-round alcohol abuse prevention programs. Coors Brewing Company has been the exclusive sponsor of the NCAAW Awards since the early 90s. The deadline
for entries for the 2004-2005 NCAAW Awards is April 1, 2005.

Coors will provide each of the three winning institutions with a $5,000 grant and a commemorative plaque. Winners will also receive travel expenses for the program coordinator and a senior administrator from each campus to travel to the NCAAW Awards ceremony. The awards ceremony will take place in Washington D.C. on September 13, 2005.

“Coors’ sponsorship of the NCAAW Awards is one of the many ways in which we are committed to encouraging responsible, legal decisions about alcohol,” said Bill Young, group manager, U.S. corporate responsibility for Coors Brewing Company. “It is our continued hope, that through programs such as NCAAW and year-round alcohol awareness education, we can play a part in reducing the incidence of alcohol-related issues on college and university campuses nationwide.”

Winning programs will be chosen based on the comprehensiveness of the institution’s year-round program, foundation of the campus’ NCAAW programs, use of evidence-based approach in prevention activities, use of social norms approach in prevention activities and breadth of participation and collaboration with other organizations.
