Copa Univision San Antonio

KWEX Univision 41, in conjunction with San Antonio’s newest professional team, the San Antonio Scorpions FC, will host the third annual “Copa Univision San Antonio” soccer tournament and festival, bringing the finest in amateur soccer to South Texas residents. The tournament will take place at the STAR (South Texas Area Regional) Soccer Complex in San Antonio, beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, and concluding with championship matches in 14 divisions on Sunday, October 2.
Amateur soccer players of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in “Copa Univision San Antonio” and win prizes. Participants that register by Friday, August 28 will receive $25 off the team registration fee. The final registration deadline is Friday, September 11. Registration is available online through SanAntonioScorpions.com, or in person at the Univision 41 downtown studios at 411 East Durango, San Antonio, Texas 78204 and at the STAR Soccer Complex at 5103 David Edwards Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78233. Univision 41 will also work with several retail outlets to provide registrations including Soccer World, Soccer Factory and Soccer Locker.
“Following the excitement of this summer’s Copa Oro and Copa America tournaments, we are thrilled to host the third annual ‘Copa Univision San Antonio’ in celebration of the world’s most popular sport,” said Luis Patiño, general manager and vice president, KWEX Univision 41 and KNIC TeleFutura 17 San Antonio.
“Copa Univision San Antonio” is open to all children and adults. Amateur soccer players will form teams of eight players in 14 divisions, starting with children under eight-years-old (U-8) through adult men’s and women’s open divisions. Teams will play in a five vs. five format on soccer fields smaller than standard regulation fields, creating an even more exciting, high scoring and highly skilled competition.
