Creative Civilization Wins National Imagen Award.

San Antonio based Creative Civilization – An Aguilar/Girard Agency has won the 19th Annual Imagen Award for “Best On-Air Advertising” placing it alongside winners such as The George Lopez Show for Best Primetime Series – Comedy and American Family for Best Primetime Series – Drama.

The television spot, entitled “Perez,” was produced for client, Conexión, a new weekly bilingual and bicultural Hearst publication. The bright and colorful 30-second spot features Latinos with the same name pronouncing it differently depending on their acculturation level. Men and women pronouncing their names, “Guadalupe Perez” and “Lupe Perez” with distinct Spanish or English accents, capture the pride and cultural diversity of Latinos across the country. The concept for the campaign focuses on the fact that while Latinos have cultural differences there are many common experiences that connect them. Conexión celebrates this by incorporating the copy line “Different. Yet Connected.” into the spots.

Established in 1985, the Imagen Awards recognize the positive portrayal of Latinos in the media and increase awareness of Latino representation at all levels in the entertainment industry. This year’s gala took place on August 26 in Beverly Hills, California.

“The agency is especially proud of this award because not only are we helping our client promote their product, we also take great pride in contributing to the positive portrayal of Latinos,” said Al Aguilar, chairman and CEO of Creative Civilization. “Advertisers must be responsible in accurately and positively portraying Latinos across all media.”
