Cristina Perez TV Judge cross-over from Spanish-Language to English-Language Television.

Cristina Perez opens a window into the Latino community as she celebrates life and interweaves traditional Latino dichos – short proverbs or sayings that are passed down through generations within the Latino culture – into her new television show “Cristina’s Court.” California’s “Woman of the Year” and ranked as one of America’s “Top 10 Latina Advocates” (Latino Leaders Magazine,) Cristina Perez teaches people not to forget where they came from.

According to preliminary estimates, “Cristina’s Court,” Twentieth Television’s first-run syndicated court show which debuted this fall on FOX, became the second highest-rated new show in U.S. syndication this season with a 1.8 GAA rating after just two weeks on the air. “Cristina’s Court” airs Monday through Friday on the Fox network, its affiliate station and FOX’s My Network TV. Interested fans are encouraged to check their local television listings for viewing times in their city.

The key to success on any level lies in, according to Cristina, “staying connected with the valuable lessons one’s culture has to offer.” In her courtroom and in her book, Cristina uses dichos to convey snippets of her own incredible life story. She allows viewers and readers to peer into her life, as she offers reflections and guidance on many issues facing us today, and celebrates her Latino community and culture while rejoicing in the spirit of what she believes defines a woman in today’s world. Many of them are from her new book LIVING BY LOS DICHOS: Advice from a Mother to a Daughter (Atria Books; September 2006; $14.00; Paperback).

The daughter of Colombian immigrants, Cristina grew up in one of New York City’s poorest neighborhoods. Since then, she has emerged as a nationally respected speaker, and television and radio personality, as well as radio host, entrepreneur and renowned author and syndicated columnist.
