Cristina Saralegui Promotes National Parks.

The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) has released three radio public service announcements featuring Univision talk show host Cristina Saralegui. The 30-second spots are the nonprofit group’s first PSAs available in both Spanish and English and invite the public to experience the many cultural and educational opportunities within U.S. national parks.

“The national parks are here for all Americans,” said Thomas Kiernan, NPCA president. “If more people visit the national parks and become passionate about them, then more passionate advocates will be fighting on behalf of the parks. Only then will these amazing places be preserved for future generations.”

Cristina Saralegui is one of the most widely recognized Latino personalities. Best known as the host of the TV talk show, “The Cristina Show”, Saralegui also has her own monthly magazine, Cristina La Revista, and radio program. Honored with numerous awards for her journalistic achievements, including the Gracie Allen Tribute Award from the Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television, Saralegui has created a wide-reaching platform to discuss a variety of issues that affect the Latino community.

More than 20 U.S. national parks commemorate the Hispanic culture. Proposed parklands, if created, would recognize more recent contributions such as those of Cesar Chavez, the American labor leader who fought for the rights of farm workers in the 1960s.

NPCA’s new PSAs highlight national parks such as Cabrillo National Monument in California where Juan Rodriquez Cabrillo claimed the coast for Spain and Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in Florida, a masonry fort built by Spanish soldiers and the first permanent European settlement in the United States.
