Daddy Yankee in Cingular’s Made-for-Mobile Concert Series.

This past Thursday, Cingular kicked-off the “by invitation only” CSL series in Los Angeles, which featured performances of his reggaetón hits Gasolina and Lo que pasó, pasó by Grammy Award winner Daddy Yankee and a special guest appearance by The Pussycat Dolls, whose singles “Don’t Cha” and “Stickwitu” have become major pop hits.

Cingular Sounds: Live (CSL) is a unique concert series designed to generate exclusive content specifically for the mobile environment. It was the first in a series of regular concert events scheduled for throughout the country, in which the video-taped footage from each event will be used as part of the company’s exclusive offering to its customers. Utilizing the company’s soon-to-be introduced, on-demand streaming video service, Cingular Video, customers will be able to use their 3G-compatible wireless phones to watch concert highlights just days after the live concert event.

“Showing video content on wireless devices is not necessarily new anymore, but what makes ‘Cingular Sounds: Live’ so unique is that we aren’t chasing music concerts to get this footage. Instead, we are actually creating these mobile music events for the sole purpose of making the content available for our all of our customers to access and enjoy on their wireless phones,” said David Garver, executive director of segment marketing and sponsorships, Cingular Wireless.
