DAVID VS. GOLIATH…What would you do?

Happy New Year my fellow marketers!
I have a situation I would like to place on this Blog to get your feedback on.
Imagine this scenario:
A general market agency hires you to help pitch a big account (you representing the Hispanic expertise for the team). You win the account and you hear back that the client was truly impressed by the Hispanic component.
Things move on and you continue to hear how much the new clients like the Hispanic expertise and knowledge you provide.
Move on to presenting new creative ideas for this client and you “adapt” the general market Big Idea so that it will be relevant and meaningful to Latinos.
Presentation day comes and the client hates the general market idea…but they all love the Hispanic adaptation. In fact, they ask about using that adapted concept in general market!
All of a sudden calls from the general market agency stop coming in; you are no longer invited to client meetings; you are told things are “on-hold” and you are not needed at the moment.
Things you were working on and now not needed and other projects are passed on to internal general market employees.
Well, you get the picture – you showed them up and you pissed them off…off with your head!
So what do you do now?
Do you walk away and just wait for another opportunity with this general market partner that has seen how good you are, or…do you contact the client (which is not yours, it’s their client), explain the situation and offer to continue working with them but not through the general market agency?
Think about it…
Gracias,
