Davis joins Azteca America.

Azteca America announced the appointment of Karen Davis as Executive Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Davis will report to company CEO Adrian Steckel and be based in Azteca’s Century City headquarters.

For over fifteen years, Karen has built brands and gained market share for media companies in the bilingual entertainment sector. As Executive Producer, she was one of the founding members of MTV Latino, the first Creative Director for HBO’s international ventures, and was named by Universal, Paramount , FOX and MGM to head their movie channel, Cinecanal, in Latin America.

In her role as Senior Director for Television and Media at the NBA, Karen, based in Miami, was credited with prospecting and closing the first-ever major sports league deal with a US Spanish language network. In the new media space, Ms. Davis was a founding partner and Chief Marketing Officer for the sports portal, Todosport.com, which amassed the fastest-growing network of sports sites for players, leagues, teams and fans in its time and was successfully sold to Umbro in 2000.

Prior to joining Azteca America, she ran The Meadows Group, a consulting firm specializing in start-up television and new media ventures, offering support services to international clients in marketing and strategic planning. Among her clients was Telemundo where she headed their marketing efforts as liaison between the network and NBC in producing their first Olympics together.

“With her strong background that blends marketing, distribution, branding and creative services, Karen’s ability to take Azteca America to the next level is second to none. We are excited to have her international brand-building expertise as we move our network forward and continue building a stellar team,” said Mr. Steckel.
