de Armas to depart from DIRECTV

John A. de Armas announced that he will be leaving his post of VP of WorldDirect for DIRECTV, Inc. In this role at DIRECTV, de Armas was responsible for the management of US Hispanic and the foreign-language services available on DIRECTV including programming acquisition to marketing. As replacement has not been named as of yet. His last day will be Friday, March 12.
de Armas, along with Coral Gables based Del Cueto Media Group have exponentially increase sales growth of all DIRECTV US Hispanic focused platforms.
Del Cueto Media Group will continue to handle all US Hispanic focused efforts on behalf of DIRECTV.
The Industry rumor mill indicates that Spanish Broadcasting System’s (SBS) Mega TV is where de Armas might be heading, especially since the departure of Cynthia Hudson – Chief Creative Officer and Executive VP for SBS and Managing Director of Mega TV last week.
de Armas was instrumental in helping Raul Alarcon – CEO of SBS devolpe a national and international foot print for Mega TV by allowing Mega TV on to the DIRECTV roster.
