De León – VP & GM @ KWHY-TV in LA.

Telemundo Station Group has tapped Araceli De León to become Vice President and General Manager for KWHY-TV in Los Angeles, the city’s leading independent station, effective January 31, 2005. The announcement was made by Ibra Morales, President of Telemundo Television Stations. De León comes to KWHY to build upon the good work of Manuel Abud, who has served for the last two years as Vice President and General Manager for the network’s two LA stations, KVEA, Ch. 52 and KWHY, Ch. 22, and will solely focus on managing KVEA from now on.

“With the start of the new year, we look forward to continuing to build and further capitalize on the potential and growth opportunities in this competitive market,” said Morales. “Araceli will work closely with the talented team at KWHY-TV and will continue to focus on programming the station, building strong community relationships, and placing emphasis on issues and news that directly affect our viewers in Los Angeles.”

De Leon joined Telemundo in January of 2003 as the Vice President and General Manager of the network’s two Arizona stations, KDRX-TV, Channel 48 in Phoenix and KHRR-TV, Channel 40 in Tucson. Under her leadership and experience, Telemundo’s Station Group was able to accomplish its goals of taking both stations to new levels of success.
