Delta Air Lines hosting LIVE Twitter Party at the Person of the Year Gala Honoring Shakira
October 10, 2011
In a year of economic recession and airline industry challenges, Delta Air Lines has stepped up by making a statement of commitment to Latinos at the Latin GRAMMY Awards.
As the official airline of the Latin Recording Academy, Latin GRAMMYs and its Person of the Year event, most of the special guests and artists flying in got the VIP treatment with Delta. However, beyond ticket sponsorships the event also serves as a great opportunity for PR enhancement and customer engagement.
For example, leveraging the unique VIP experience the event offers, Delta passengers and members of Delta’s SkyMiles frequent flier program from Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala and Puerto Rico won trips to see the Latin GRAMMYs live in Las Vegas through a variety of sweepstakes and radio promotions.
Finally, social media became a key component of their engagement strategy. With the hash-tag #DELTALG, a number of social media influencers (with me @liligil moderating in partnership with @julito77, @marieladabbah, @latinorebels and @BeChicMag) will be hosting a LIVE twitter party from inside the Person of the Year Gala November 9th starting at 7pm PST/ 10pm EST. Due to the private nature of the event, which is not broadcasted anywhere, Delta placed itself in a position of influencer and relevancy to engage and facilitate the social conversations by providing exclusive content via Twitter. You can follow me on twitter @liligil to stay up to date from inside the gala and to track the #DELTALG updates.
Congratulations Delta for supporting the advancement of Latin music and for giving us customers and fans get an inside view at the gala for Shakira!
