Univision Communications Inc. UVN, the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States, today announced that Diego T. Ruiz will assume the position of Vice President and General Manager of KUVS-TV, Channel 19, Univision Network’s Sacramento, California, station, effective immediately.

Ruiz was previously Vice President and General Manager of Univision Online in Miami, FL, a position he has held since January 2000. He will be based in Sacramento and will report to Michael D. Wortsman and Tom Arnost, Co-Presidents, Univision Television Group.

Prior to his role as Vice President General Manager, Univision Online, Ruiz served as Station Manager, KMEX-TV Channel 34, Los Angeles, from 1998 through 2000. He started his career with Univision Communications Inc. in 1997 in the company’s Executive Training Program. Prior to joining Univision, Ruiz worked in government and politics in the United States and Latin America; he served as campaign consultant to Violeta Chamorro in Nicaragua, and worked in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC, for seven years. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and his graduate degree from Harvard Business School.
