DIRECTV, Under Armour, Citgo and Olevia join ESPN Deportes’ coverage of the Pan American Games.

DIRECTV, Under Armour, Citgo and Olevia, the popular brand of HDTVs, have joined as sponsor of ESPN Deportes’ coverage of the Pan American Games. The Pan American Games, last televised on ESPN in 1998 are making a spectacular return starting today with the Opening Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. ET. Coverage of the Pan American Games will be featured on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, ESPN360.com, ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPNdeportes.com and ESPN Deportes La Revista.

The sponsorship packages consist of extensive exposure during ESPN Deportes’ coverage of the sixteen days of festivities including sponsoring ESPN Deportes’ daily studio update segments that anchor the network’s coverage of the Games. Further advertising benefits include exposure on SportsCenter, the preeminent sports news and information program in the U.S.

ESPN Deportes, the company’s Spanish-language network in the U.S., will offer at least 10 hours of daily coverage starting with Opening Ceremonies July 13 at 3 p.m. ET. Spanish-language coverage will begin at noon and conclude at 10 p.m. ET on weekdays and 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET on weekends. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN360.com will simulcast some of ESPN Deportes’ Spanish-language coverage.

Coverage of the Games will feature a wide range of competitions including men’s basketball, men’s soccer, boxing, baseball, beach volleyball, track and field, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, women’s soccer, futsol and tennis. Occurring once every four years and during the year prior to each Olympic Games, the Pan American Games is a multi-sport, quadrennial event for the Americas. The 15th edition of the Pan American Games will feature approximately 5,500 athletes from 42 countries. This year the U.S. delegation will include approximately 650 athletes competing in 35 sports.
