Discovery en Español launches 3rd Edition of ‘DESCUBRE TU TALENTO’
March 20, 2014
Discovery en Español announced the launch of the third edition of DESCUBRE TU TALENTO, a corporate social responsibility campaign in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Using testimonials from real Hispanics who have succeeded in their professions, this year’s campaign will showcase careers in the fields of business, technical, medical and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The information, offered entirely in Spanish, will be available on www.descubretutalento.net <http://www.descubretutalento.net> , which has been updated with sections such as “Find Your Vocation,” “First Steps” (with tips for resume writing and job interview preparation), and “Outstanding Careers” (that includes educational and training resources as well as salary information). This information can also be accessed via the Discovery en Español Facebook page (facebook.com/discoveryenespanol).
Descubre Tu Talento’s on-air campaign features inspiring, first-account stories by immigrants who came to the United States with few resources but thrived in their occupations through hard work, self-improvement and perseverance. They share with the audience the key to their success in a series of spots with the slogan “Your future begins now; discover your skills.” Profiles include:
· Javier, who always dreamed of having his own business, he studied mechanics and accounting and now owns a car repair shop.
· Manuel, a Salvadoran immigrant who started off volunteering in a print shop to learn basic design techniques. Little by little he learned to use computer programs and now has a base of loyal customers who entrust him with their graphic design needs.
· Antonio, a truck driver whose ambition is to be an electrician. He is currently going to night school to complete a 50-week course that will enable him to pursue his dream.
· Saraí, a woman carpenter who had to struggle to make a space for herself in a male-dominated field. She persevered despite encounters with discrimination and now works full time in her profession.
DESCUBRE TU TALENTO will continue throughout the year offering new video testimonials and career information.
