The Economic Impact of the Mexico-California Relationship.

The purpose of this project is to present an analysis of the economic impact of the Mexico-California relationship. The report analyzes the benefits and costs that the immigrant and native-born Latino populations of Mexican origin contribute to the California economy. In addition, thereport presents an analysis of the Mexico-California relationship related to commerce, investment andexpenditures, and tourism. The report is based on themost recent, publicly available information from government,private, and higher education institutionsfrom both the United States and Mexico.

The report is divided in two parts. The first part analyzes the economic impact of the Mexico-California relationship related to commerce, investment, and tourism.

The second part analyzes the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the Latino population of Mexican origin, paying particular attention to the purchasing power of the native- and foreignborn populations as well as to the costs associated with immigration for California.
