Edith Gonzalez to star in Telemundo’s Doña Bárbara.

Renowned Mexican actress, Edith González, has signed an agreement to star in the leading role in “Doña Bárbara,” the next original co-production between Telemundo and Sony Pictures Television International, under the direction of RTI Colombia. The same group which produced the successful novela “El Zorro: La Espada y la Rosa” will begin the HD production for this one-of-a-kind masterpiece on June 30 in Bogotá, Colombia. It is scheduled to premiere this summer on Telemundo.

González will play the role of a determined woman, hardened by a turbulent past, who will have to defy her own insecurities when she is faced with a forbidden love. Based on the literary novel by Rómulo Gallegos, “Doña Bárbara” was immortalized on film by the legendary actress María Felix (1945).

González has also taken part in several movies and most recently she participated in the popular series “Bailando por un Sueño.” This talented actress is also remembered for being the leading lady to star in “Aventurera,” from Carmen Salinas in 1998.
