The Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) congratulates its founder, Eduardo Caballero, on being awarded the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation’s Giants of Broadcasting Award in New York City.
The 4th Annual Giants of Broadcasting Awards, honoring the best broadcasters of the past and present, were bestowed upon nine honorees at the Grand Hyatt New York. Caballero was honored along with fellow inductees and media giants Barbara Walters and the late Peter Jennings. Industry giant Charles Osgood served as the Master of Ceremonies. Caballero is the first Latino to be so honored.
“The remarkable advancements we’ve witnessed in US Hispanic marketing and advertising can be attributed to the efforts of revolutionaries like Eduardo,” says Carl Kravetz, Chairman of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA). “His vision, dedication, and passion have helped build our industry and AHAA sincerely appreciates his leadership and contributions. Recognition of his accomplishments alongside influential general market broadcasters demonstrates the significant value and acknowledgment he has brought to our industry and to Latinos.”
It was Eduardo Caballero’s vision ten years ago that formalized a new movement in the advertising world. He urged other pioneers to form AHAA, an association dedicated to promoting the strength of the US Hispanic marketing and advertising industry. Today, AHAA has grown to represent more than 98 percent of the US Hispanic agencies and the more than $5 billion corporations are spending to reach the powerful US Latino consumer. During the past decade, AHAA agencies have experienced many milestones, the most influential of which was the 2000 Census revealing the significant Hispanic population in the US and the projected growth of the segment.
Caballero will join industry colleagues at the AHAA 21st semiannual conference next week in Miami for the presentation of an award that bears his name. The Eduardo Caballero Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to an individual who, like AHAA’s padrino Caballero, transformed US Hispanic marketing and advertising.
