El Diario La Prensa will host the 12th Annual Mujeres Destacadas Awards.

El Diario La Prensa will host the Annual Mujeres Destacadas Awards Luncheon on April 29, 2007 at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Now in its 12th year, The Women of Distinction Awards were first produced to recognize Latinas who have reached career milestones and have made a difference in the Hispanic community. Previous recipients have come from government, community organizations, and education, but they have also come from the business world of finance, marketing and advertising. Some of the women honored are Aida Alvarez former Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Antonia Novello, former U.S. Surgeon General; Daisy Expósito Ulla, President and CEO of d expósito and partners; actors Rosario Dawson and Miriam Colon, and Christy Haubegger, founder of Latina magazine and Agent/Producer at Creative Artists Agency.
This year, El Diario La Prensa will present the Woman of the Year in the Arts Award to actress Ana Ortiz of the hit ABC show “Ugly Betty”. She will join 40 other women of distinction who also will be honored.
“Mujeres Destacadas Awards are very special to El Diario for a number of reasons,” said publisher and CEO Rossana Rosado. “Not only do we have a wonderful reason to celebrate the achievements of Latinas, but this event also affords us to present scholarships to ten deserving young Latinas.”
