El Mundo de Pachuca (the World of Pachuca), a new weekly show about Mexico’s oldest professional soccer club, launched in the U.S. on Fox Sports en Español on Friday, March 12, 2003 at 9:00 p.m. (ET)/6:00 p.m(PT). The hour-long show will focus on the Pachuca first-division team, the defending champions of the Mexican League, and feature exclusive interviews with star players such as forward Claudinho and midfielder Manuel Vidrio and the team’s coaching staff.
Produced in Mexico, TUZOCCER will also feature coaching secrets from Victor Vucetich and an in-depth look at the Pachuca Fútbol University. Rounding out the program each week will be updates on the club’s position in the Mexican League, previews of upcoming matches and highlights from previous matches.
“As one of the most historic and successful soccer clubs in Mexico, Pachuca has a legion of devoted followers in the United States,” said David Sternberg, General Manager of Fox Sports en Español. “We are looking forward to satisfying their passionate interest in the team with the launch of TUZOCCER.”
Club Pachuca was founded in 1901 as the first organized soccer club in Mexico, and has enjoyed a century of outstanding on-field success. In the course of the last five years, the team has won three Mexican League titles (1999, 2001 and 2003), and in 2002, under coach Alfredo Tena, Pachuca won the CONCACAF Copa de Campeones, a competition that brings together the best teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
TUZOCCER is the fourth series originating in Mexico that Fox Sports en Español has launched within the last year. The channel’s other Mexican shows include the newly renamed Palco Fox Sports (previously titled Palco Deportivo), A Primera Vista and the newly launched nightly news program Diario Fox Sports.
