El Nuevo Día Orlando announced that it will increase circulation in Central Florida by establishing a controlled free distribution system that will include both home delivery and single copy. The new distribution method will become effective on November 13th and will increase distribution from Monday to Thursday by 20% and by 60% on Fridays. Total weekly distribution will now reach 135,000 copies making it Central Florida’s largest Hispanic publication.
Jaime Segura, General Manager of El Nuevo Día Orlando said, “The controlled distribution method will allow us to increase our reach to the Central Florida Hispanic community. It will be of great benefit both for the consumer and for the advertisers. We plan to increase our distribution points by 30% in the next forty-five days and reach 40,000 copies for our Friday weekend edition. The controlled circulation model will make our distribution structure very efficient and enable our future expansion to other areas in Central Florida”, concluded Segura.
Linda Hernández, Executive Editor added, “Our research study* confirmed that El Nuevo Día is the leading source of local information and news for the Hispanic community in Orlando. Our editorial team is very excited that we will be reaching more people in more places in Central Florida and is more committed than ever to continue providing content that is important in the daily lives of this growing and vibrant community”.
Antonio Luis Ferré Rangel, COO of Grupo Ferré Rangel, said “We have been analyzing the switch to controlled distribution for some time for El Nuevo Día Orlando, a trend that is working very well for various newspapers in Europe and the in U.S. including some that are targeted to the Hispanic market. We look forward to continuing to serve the Central Florida community, now with a larger distribution base”, added Ferré Rangel.
El Nuevo Día began a print, radio, and grassroots campaign in order to communicate to current readers and the community in general the availability of the paper free of charge. The campaign is being produced by Miami based C-Com Group, El Nuevo Día Orlando’s agency of record since its launch. Current subscribers will receive refunds for the months pre-paid after October 30, 2006 added Frank González, Circulation Manager.
