The Engagement Formula [INFOGRAPHIC]
June 19, 2012
Engagement is such a hot topic, but to date, no one has been able to come up with a clear formula for measuring this essential social media factor.
Socialbakers has come up with a new measurement that takes all the key metrics into consideration.
Engagement means your post, tweet, or status actually did something. Someone changed their behavior or actions because of you. As a result, others will see your post as well.
In the image you will find the formula as well an entire infographic diving into the top 10 brands with the highest engagement rate.
As one can see, a brand with more Facebook fans or Twitter followers will not necessarily have a higher engagement rate. More fans require many more shares, likes, comments, replies, retweets or +1’s.
Bigger isn’t always better.
Key Takeaway – Number of fans or followers is not a key metric. It is important, but the connections you form, the relationships you cultivate, and the reach you extend matter tenfold. That, my friends, is engagement and the metric we all need to hone in on.
