Entravision To Acquire KKWB-TV In El Paso.

Entravision Communications Corporation announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire KKWB-TV, Channel 65, serving El Paso, Texas from White Knight Broadcasting of El Paso, Inc. for $18 million in cash. The acquisition will create the first television duopoly in El Paso, joining KKWB-TV and KINT-TV, Channel 26, Entravision’s Univision affiliate serving El Paso. KKWB-TV, currently a WB affiliate, will launch as an affiliate of TELEFUTURA, Univision’s new Spanish-language network, in the first quarter of 2002. David Candelaria, currently General Manager of KINT-TV will be General Manager for both KINT-TV, and KKWB-TV.

KKWB-TV will benefit from the ratings strength of KINT-TV, which is El Paso’s number one rated station across all day parts and all adults, both Spanish and English-language speaking. In addition, the stations will share management, operational and sales resources creating further operating efficiencies.”
