Entravision Radio Frequency Change In Las Vegas.
November 2, 2002
Entravision Radio, a division of Entravision Communications Corporation EVC, announced that Super Estrella 105.1 FM, a format featuring contemporary Spanish-language hits, has moved to 92.7 FM in the Las Vegas market. Pending FCC approval, the call letters for KRRN will eventually move to 92.7 FM to follow the Super Estrella format.
With the pending acquisition of KRCY 92.7 FM that was announced in July 2002, Entravision will now own and/or operate two FM radio stations in Las Vegas, the nation’s 24th ranked Hispanic market. Entravision also operates two television stations in the market, Univision’s KINC Channel 15 and Telefutura’s KELV Channel 27.
In place of Super Estrella 105.1 FM, Entravision will begin airing Jose Feliciano’s Christmas classic “Feliz Navidad” continuously, accompanied by announcements directing listeners to Super Estrella’s new home on 92.7 FM. Additionally, Entravision radio is offering a $1,000 prize to the 105th caller from the moment “Feliz Navidad” ends and the new format debuts. Entravision is currently evaluating format options for 105.1 FM and plans to announce its decision very soon.
“We’re excited about expanding our radio presence in Las Vegas, one of the fastest growing Hispanic markets in the U.S. Moving the Super Estrella format to 92.7 FM opens up opportunities for us to debut a new format in the market and offer the Hispanic community a wider range of Spanish-language music,” commented Entravision Radio President Jeff Liberman.
