Escobar named Executive VP of News at Telemundo.

Telemundo announced that Ramon Escobar has been named Executive Vice President of Telemundo Network News. The appointment builds on the continued roll out of a comprehensive strategy for the Telemundo’s news division, which was announced in December 2009 by Don Browne, Telemundo President, to whom he will report.

In his new role, Escobar will oversee all of Telemundo’s network news operations. He will develop strategic plans for all news properties while supervising the news programming at the network. In addition, he will oversee the network’s domestic and international news bureaus as well as work to develop on-air talent and communications.

“I’ve had the good fortune, over the past 16 years to work with Ramon and see first-hand his talent, passion, dedication to journalism and commitment to serving the US Hispanic community,” said Browne. “His extensive experience in journalism and his ability to understand the rapidly evolving, multi-media world of news and information position him perfectly to lead our news organization into the future.”
