December 11, 2012
ESPN Deportes Nueva York 1050AM and MSG have reached an agreement for the Spanish-language station to carry select Knicks home games for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.
ESPN Deportes Nueva York 1050AM’s first Knicks game broadcast will be Friday, January 11 when New York hosts the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden at 8:00 p.m. Play-by-play coverage will be led by Clemson Smith Muñiz, who is also the voice of the New York Jets on 1050AM, and Tiny Cains. Jerry Olaya and Felipe López will also contribute throughout the remainder of the season.
“At ESPN we are committed to serving the U.S. Hispanic sports fan,” said Dave Roberts, VP/General Manager, ESPN New York 98.7FM and 1050AM ESPN Deportes. “The Knicks have a growing Hispanic fan base so this extension of our partnership with MSG was a natural step for us to serve that audience.”
“We are happy to work with ESPN Deportes Nueva York 1050AM and look forward to bringing Knicks games in Spanish to a very passionate fan base,” said Daniel Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager, MSG Networks.
