ESTRELLATV launches `CINE ESTRELLATV’ and `CINE DE FAMILIA’

EstrellaTV kicks off its summer weekend programming with the debut of two Sunday movie series, Cine EstrellaTV starting this Sunday, May 28 at 9 p.m./8 p.m. CT, and Cine de Familia, on Sunday, June 4 at 9 p.m./8 p.m. CT. The series will continue on Sundays throughout the summer, with Cine de Familia on the first Sunday of every month, and Cine EstrellaTV on all other Sundays. In addition to airing on EstrellaTV’s broadcast channels, both series will be available on the Cine EstrellaTV streaming channel, available on the EstrellaTV app and on streaming platforms including Roku, LG, Sling TV, Fubo TV and Local Now, among others.

Cine EstrellaTV will feature a selection of the finest Mexican movie titles, showcasing premium movies specifically curated to resonate with the Mexican American viewer. The Cine EstrellaTV movie series premieres on Sunday with the film “La Delgada Linea Amarilla” starring Damian Alcazar, Joaquin Cosío, and Silverio Palacios. In this comedy/drama, five men who were dealt a bad hand by life have been given the task of re-marking the central road lines on a long stretch of highway. Armed with an old truck, a dog, and yellow paint pots, the men set to work in the sweltering heat. None of them could have guessed that this tedious task would change their lives forever.

Other films airing during the summer on Cine EstrellaTV will include the critically acclaimed “Sexo, Pudor y Lágrimas” (Demián Bichir, Cecilia Suárez), “Amor Xtremo” (Aaron Diaz, Irán Castillo), and “La Otra Familia” (Jorge Salinas, Ana Serradilla, Luis Gerardo Méndez).

Cine de Familia is a family movie night, featuring personalities from both Mexican cinema and Hollywood, including the incomparable Salma Hayek, Bruno Bichir, and Ernesto Gomez Cruz. On Sunday, June 4, Cine de Familia will premiere the comedy “El Viaje de la Nonna” starring Rodrigo Murray, Cecilia Suárez, and Ana Ofelia Murguía. Nonna, the Todaros’ grandmother, forgets almost everything. Her biggest dream had always been to travel to Italy. Her family doesn’t see the point of making this journey if she is going to forget it anyway. What is more important, that she go, or that she remembers that she went? The answer is not that simple. Three siblings decide to grant their grandmother’s last wish, to embark on a make-believe trip to a small town in Italy – without leaving Mexico.

Other films airing during the summer on Cine de Familia will include masterpieces such as “El Callejon de los Milagros” and “Amar.”

“Summer is for movies, and we are thrilled to share the best of Latin cinema with our EstrellaTV fans,” said Enrique Guillen, Chief Content Officer, Estrella Media. “These movies are highly regarded films, with superstar talent and Latin directors who bring the best in storytelling to the big screen. From Cine EstrellaTV to the films that the whole family can enjoy on Cine de Familia, we are helping bring the stars to our viewers this summer.”
