Ethnicity & Sports Participation.
July 8, 2005
Research and Markets has announced the addition of a study of Ethnicity and Sports Participation to their offering.
“Ethnicity and Sports Participation” is the first sports survey to combine a well-represented oversample of minority populations with a sophisticated sample balancing methodology. As such it will reflect the true multicultural diversity of Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native Americans projecting national sports participation estimates for all these groups across 103 sports/activities. The ethnic and racial sports data are also aggregated by various indicators of health and fitness: health club membership, exercise, bodyweight, BMI and weight loss behavior.
The data are derived from the super study of Sports Participation, the definitive annual consumer mail panel survey of 25,000 adults and children across the U.S., conducted every year since 1987. In 2004, the core sample was augmented by an ethnic oversample of 3,000 minority households — increasing the questionnaire mailout to 28,000. Response rates in excess of 60% are typical in hardcopy mail panel research.
