Exitos 93.9 FM, will dedicate its programming to honor the many brave Latino men and women who have dedicated themselves to the cause of freedom by serving in the armed forces with a special weekend-long broadcast, May 27 – 30.
Exitos’ Memorial Day: Honor y Orgullo Latino (Honor and Latino Pride) is an on-air, online and social media campaign that will honor Latino heroism and raise awareness of the contributions Latinos have made and continue to make to America’s defense by providing listeners, community leaders, and veterans with an opportunity to express their gratitude to friends and family members serving in the military. Currently, nearly 150,000 Latinos are serving as active duty members in the United States Armed Services.
“Latinos have a proud record of military service that, at times, can be overlooked, and Memorial Day gives us special reason to recognize the extraordinary heroism, bravery, patriotism and contributions of Latino men and women who have answered the call to serve their country,” said Barrett Alley, station general manager and chief operating officer. “Exitos 93.9 FM is very pleased to honor our Latino veterans in a meaningful way that we believe is a first in radio broadcast history.”
The station will kick-off the special broadcast Friday, May 27 with a special morning drive broadcast program that will include special remarks and interviews with key local leaders, celebrities, and representatives of military organizations.
“Latinos have a proud and unmatched record of service in the military, and we believe this program is a fitting way to thank them and pay our respects for their commitment,” Alley said.
