Falcon – Executive VP Operations @ TeleFutura.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that Alina Falcon has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Operating Manager of the TeleFutura Network. She will continue to be responsible for overseeing all TeleFutura Network operations, including programming, promotions, talent relations, technical operations and news. She will remain based in Miami and will report to Ray Rodriguez, President and Chief Operating Officer, Univision Television Networks.

“Alina has been instrumental in the tremendous success of TeleFutura, a network we launched just two short years ago,” said A. Jerrold Perenchio, Chairman and CEO, Univision Communications Inc. “The introduction of TeleFutura has caused viewing to Spanish-language broadcast television to increase 36%, with TeleFutura capturing an impressive 60% of that growth. Clearly Alina is a proven leader and I rest assured that she will continue to grow TeleFutura’s share of the pie both with viewers and advertisers in the years to come.”

Most recently, Falcon was Senior Vice President and Operating Manager, for the TeleFutura Network, a position she has held since July 2002. Prior to joining TeleFutura, Falcon was Senior Vice President and Director of News Division for Univision Television Network. In that capacity, she oversaw the programs “Noticiero Univision,” “Noticiero Univision Ultima Hora,” “Noticiero Univision Fin de Semana,” “Primer Impacto,” “Aqui y Ahora,” “Noticias Univision Presenta,” “Ver Para Creer,” “Pica y Se Extiende” and “El Gordo y la Flaca.” Falcon began her tenure with Univision at WLTV-Miami, where she held the positions of Executive Producer, Assistant News Director and News Director, and won a regional Emmy Award. She was promoted to Assistant News Director for the Univision Television Network in 1992 and to Vice President and News Director in 1993.

Under Falcon’s leadership, Univision’s network newscast, “Noticiero Univision” won two national Emmy Awards in 1998 and the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast in 1997. In 1998, “Primer Impacto” won the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Series.
